WOODEN WEDDING. One
of the most enjoyable events of the season was the 5th. anniversary
of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Balliet at their residence, about three
miles south-east of the city, on the evening of the 1st. of November.
Although the night was a little cold, sixty invited guests were in
attendance. The event will long be remembered by all who were there with
feelings of sincere pleasure, as Mr. and Mrs. Balliet know just how to entertain
their friends. A remarkable feature
of the occasion was the fact that four generations were represented at the
supper table. The table fairly
groaned with the good things with which the inner man was refreshed in due time.
Good music was furnished by Miss Emma Balliet, as organist, accompanied
by violin, etc. Presents were
beautiful and useful, among which were and elegant marble-top center table, by
James Campbell and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Balliet, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kyner
and Mr. and Mrs. W. Kyner; silver
castor, by Sol. Balliet and family and Mr. & Mrs. Snyder;
camp rocking chair from Mr. and Mrs. Peter Fault;
marble-top Bible stand and chromo from Mr. and Mrs. Sam Balliet, Mr. and
Mrs. George Lenhart, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Au and Mr. and Mrs. George Mentzer;
beautiful parlor lamp from Mr. and Mrs. James Balliet;
large chromo from David Gates and family; marble-top Bible stand from Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Gomwer and Mr.
and Mrs. R.A. Pettit; splendid
mirror, ebony-wood frame from Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Owings; beautiful chromo from Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Dirr;
handsome bracket from Mrs. Catherine Bell;
elegant double picture frame from Mr. and Mrs. George Race;
and a lovely present by Mr. and Mrs. Elzy Sheets.
