04 May 1895 John E. Metz, who married Ida E. Metz, June 5, 1886, has for the third time filed an application in common pleas court for divorce on grounds of willful absence.
11 May 1895 In common pleas court Emma McKenna, who married Charles E. McKenna, Jan. 28, 1892, has begun divorce proceedings on grounds of gross neglect of duty, failure to provide, adultery with Lizzie Strank at the home of Lizzie Ritchie in this city, and associating with lewd women, etc.
In probate court today Hattie Wigton, who married Elmer Wigton, November 6, 1890, was granted a divorce on grounds of her husband's cruelty by threatening to shoot her and adultery with Clara Stevens.  Mrs. Wigton was granted custody of the little daughter and restored to her maiden name, Hattie Walker.
18 May 1895 Charles Koerber, who married Cora Koerber at Mt. Vernon, Sept. 14, 1894, was granted a divorce in probate court yesterday on grounds of defendant's illicit relations with unknown men at Cleveland.
15 June 1895 In probate court yesterday, Mary A. Nell, who married Frank J. Nell, May 8, 1894, was granted a divorce on grounds of gross neglect, failing to provide and also because that at the time the parties were married Nell claimed to be a single man, although he was not legally separated from a former wife.
22 June 1895 In probate court Elizabeth Dent, who married Samuel Dent, December 30, 1874, has filed a petition for divorce on grounds of willful absence for more than three years.  Plaintiff claims Dent deserted her about four years ago and that prior to that time she was dependent upon her own exertions for the support of herself and her children.  She also asks for custody of the children.
29 June 1895 Gaylord Ozier was granted a divorce from Mary Ozier on the ground of willful absence for more than three years.
20 July 1895 Judge Brucker yesterday decided the Hayes divorce case, which was tried about a month ago.  William Hayes married Martha E. Staunton at Butler, Dec. 26, 1872, and they have six children, the eldest being 20 years old.  Plaintiff's cause of action was extreme cruelty, alleging that at divers times his wife assaulted him with a knife and threatened to kill him and that she also falsely accused him of improper intimacies with other women.  Mrs. Hayes filed an answer and cross petition setting up counter charges and asking for alimony and custody of the children.  Judge Brucker granted Hayes a divorce and Mrs. Hayes the custody of the children for the present and $12 per month alimony payable semi-monthly.  Hayes is granted the privilege of visiting his children at his pleasure and the children are at liberty to choose with which parent they prefer to make their home.
27 July 1895 In probate court yesterday Nancy J. Garris, who married John Garris at Lima, August 27, 1887, file a petition for divorce on grounds of willful neglect and profligacy.  Plaintiff alleges that she had to earn a living for both, although Garris is a boiler maker and able to earn a living.  She recites a long chapter of complaints on this ground and asks that defendant be enjoined from interfering with her.  She resides at 51 South Main Street.
03 August 1895 Harry E. Caskey has begun divorce proceedings in probate court against Annie Caskey, whom he married at Robertsville, Stark County, May 14, 1887.  He alleges willful absence for more than three years.
Peter Miller, who married Catharine Miller, April 27, 1891, began divorce proceedings today in probate court on grounds of willful absence for more than three years.  He also asks for custody of their four-years-old daughter, Anna.
In probate court Mary E. Spayde, who married Delno Spayde, Feb. 3, 1893, has begun divorce proceedings on grounds of extreme cruelty by striking and choking her, using vile language and failing to provide.  She alleges that after their child was born she was obliged to go to friends and ask for a home, food and clothing for herself and child.  She asks for custody of the child and to be restored to her maiden name, Mary E. Hoover.
10 August 1895 William H. Sonners, Sr., who married Catherine L. Sonners March 1, 1866, has begun divorce proceedings in common pleas court on grounds of extreme cruelty.  He accuses his wife of striking and beating him on various occasions.  He avers that he deeded to her lots 1310 and 1311 without consideration to hold in trust.  He also asks that the property be decreed to him, together with an interest in $300, the earnings of their three sons, who are over 21 years of age.
  The Hasenzahl divorce case was tried in probated court yesterday, and Catharine Hasenzahl, who married Fred Hasenzahl, May 5, 1887, was granted a decree of divorce.  In her petition Mrs. Hasenzahl accused Fred of improper intimacy with Mrs. Etta Reindfus which Fred in his answer denied.  The division of property as agreed upon by the parties was approved by the court.
17 August 1895 In probate court Barbara Farmer who married John S. Farmer, Oct. 8, 1874, has begun divorce proceedings on grounds of willful absence and failing to provide for more than three years.  She also asks custody of the four children.  Farmer was once a member of the city council but went south several ago on account of financial embarrassments.
  Cora Hamilton, who married David Hamilton, July 1, 1893, has begun divorce proceedings in probate court on grounds of failure to provide and necessitating her living upon the charity of friends.
24 August 1895 In Probate court William Shoop who was married to Anna E. Shoop at Liverpool, Pa., July 26, 1867, has begun divorce proceedings on grounds of neglect, cruelty by being upbraided in lewd and obscene language and finally deserted June 1, 1894.
  Etta Rindfuss, who married Louis Rindfuss, Jan. 24, 1894, has applied for a divorce.  She accuses her husband of illicit relations with a woman unknown to her at a certain house on North Sugar Street.  Mrs. Rindfuss, it will be remembered, was the co-respondent in the Hasenzahl divorce case.
  In probate court today the marital differences of Mariah and John Hurzog of Worthington Township are being aired.  Mariah sues for alimony and John, in a cross petition, asks for divorce.
21 September 1895 In common please court, James M. Ottinger, who married Mary A. Ottinger, Dec. 4, 1884, filed suit for divorce on grounds of incompatibility of temper.
  The divorce case of Peter Miller vs. Catherine Miller was heard yesterday in probate court.  The defendant was granted a divorce on her answer and cross petition.
05 October 1895 Judge Brucker today announced his decree in the Stoler divorce case which was tried last week.  Stella Stoler sued Myron Stoler for divorce on grounds of adultery, naming Nettie Metcalf as co-respondent.  Stoler filed an answer and cross petition denying the allegations of Mrs. Stoler's petition and asking for divorce on the same ground naming Willis Walters as co-respondent.  The court refused to grant either party a divorce as the evidence was not sufficient to sustain the allegations.
12 October 1895 In probate court yesterday, Mary E. Spayde was granted a divorce from Delno Spayde, who she married January 3, 1893.
  Lydia Siver, who married William Siver on March 22, 1893, has applied in Probate Court for a divorce on grounds of improper conduct of her husband.
  In probate court today, Samantha A. Hall, who married Jacob R. Hall, May 29, 1875, began divorce proceedings on grounds of wilful absence and gross neglect for more than four years.  She asks to be granted the custody of the three children.
19 October 1895 Cora Hamilton was granted a divorce from David Hamilton, in probate court yesterday, on grounds of failure to provide.  They were married July 1, 1893.
26 October 1895 Daniel Burkholder vs. Mary A. Burkholder, divorce.  
  Nannie Beal vs. Charles Beal, divorce.
16 November 1895 W.H. Bowers filed a suit in probate court today for a divorce from his wife, Pauline C. Bowers.  A contract has been signed by both W.H. Bowers and Pauline C. Bowers, in which Mr. Bowers agrees to cede to his wife their residence on South Main Street, valued at $4,500, a certain part of the household goods and utensils valued at $500, a piece of land in Bellville valued at $1,000, and $150 in money.  Pauline C. Bowers gives her note for $1,000 payable in three years, secured by a mortgage on the real estate named.  Mr. & Mrs. W.H. Bowers were married October 28, 1885, and have no children.  Their domestic relations have been unpleasant for the past three years and incompatibility of temper leads to the separation.
  Edith Sutter, formerly Edith Hershiser, and W. Allen Sutter were married at Shelby March 26, 1893.  Mrs. Sutter has begun divorce proceedings in probate court in which she alleges that Sutter deserted her without cause a few weeks after they were married and has failed to provide necessaries of life.  She asks for absolute divorce, alimony and custody of their child, which is 2 years old.
  In probate court yesterday, J.P. Darling was granted a divorce from Mary Darling, whom he married October 17, 1889, on grounds of illicit relations with Marion Workman and desertion.
23 November 1895 Thursday -- In probate court today, Lily Winski, formerly Lily Montis, began divorce proceedings against Rudolph Winski, whom she married at Bellville Sept. 29, 1894.  Winski abandoned her Oct. 1, 1894, and she alleges gross neglect of duty and failure to provide.
  11/23/1895 -- J.F. Black has filed a petition in probate court for a divorce from M. Black.  The couple was married in Ashland County, June 17, 1892, and have no children.
30 November 1895 11/26/1895 -- In probate court yesterday, Lydia Siver, who married William Siver March 22, 1893, was granted a divorce on grounds that Sivers had been guilty of infidelity to his marital relations with plaintiff.
  Frank C. Whitcomb who married Delia E. Whitcomb in this city April 12, 1892, has begun divorce proceedings in probate court on grounds of infidelity, alleging that she has intimately associated with divers men unknown to plaintiff.
07 December 1895 Tuesday (12/3/1895) -- John W. Pyle, an engineer employed by the Baxter Stove Company, has begun divorce proceedings in probate court against Allie Pyle, whom he married Dec. 24, 1890.  He alleges in his petition that his wife has been unfaithful to him and that she has associated with Belle Castner and been a frequenter of Mrs. Castner's house.
  Friday (12/6/1895) -- In common please court today, Louisa Aungst was granted a divorce from Alex Aungst and Charles H. Bridges was granted a divorce from Martha Bridges on his answer and cross-petition.  Mrs. Bridges had sued for alimony which was denied.
  A sensational divorce case which comes from Shiloh was filed in probate court this afternoon.  April 17th., Dr. Harvey R. Noble of Shiloh, married Alma Mills, a daughter of Wellington Mills of that village.  The application for divorce is made by Mrs. Noble who alleges in her petition that her husband treated her with extreme cruelty Oct. 22, by striking her, and again striking and violently abusing her Nov. 17, when she was in a delicate condition, and also that he struck and choked her, caught her by the hair and jammed her head against the wall Nov. 28 and called her a fool, an idiot and other bad names.  She avers that he owns personal property valued at from $8,000 to $12,000 and realty valued at $7,000 and, as she is without means, she asks for an allowance for attorney fees and alimony pending suit and for absolute divorce and alimony and restoration to her maiden name.  She asks that he be enjoined from disposing of his property and a temporary restraining order was issued.
  Saturday (12/7/1895) -- In probate court this afternoon, Samantha A. Hall was granted a divorce from Jacob R. Hall, on the grounds of gross neglect of duty.  The parties were married in this county in 1875 and have three children.
14 December 1895 In probate court last evening divorce proceedings were begun by Mary Loro vs. Harry Loro, whom she married Dec. 25, 1892.  She alleges failure to provide for two years and asks that she be divorced and restored to her maiden name, Mary Bowers.
  An agreement has been reached in the case of Stella Stoler vs. Myron H. Stoler in a suit for divorce.  Stella Stoler releases Myron Stoler from payment of alimony and he in turn surrenders to her their household goods and a cow.  Stella Stoler agrees to pay the costs of the suit.  Stoler has been in the employ of the L.N. Loiselle for some time and is one of his most trusted employees.
  Monday -- In probate court today, Daniel Burkholder, who married Mary Burkholder, Feb. 12, 1890, was granted a divorce on grounds of improper intimacy between his wife and William Antrican and desertion March 31, 1894.
21 December 1895 Thursday -- Libbie Leppo, who married James S. Leppo, Nov. 11, 1891, has begun an action in probate court for alimony.  She avers in her petition that she was compelled to separate from Leppo Jan. 1, 1893, on account of his cruel treatment by compelling her to do manual labor on the farm when she was not able to do so.  She says Leppo will some into an inheritance from his parents, should he out-live them and asks for alimony pending suit and a reasonable allowance of alimony upon final hearing.
  Friday -- In probate court today, Anna Maria Miller, who married Henry Miller, October 15, 1872, began divorce proceedings on grounds of alleged failure to provide and compelling her to support herself and defendant also.  She asks custody of their 13-year old son and that defendant be enjoined from interfering with her rights to the custody of the son.
28 December 1895 Saturday -- In probate court today Jennie E. Howe, who married Earl E. Howe at Shelby, June 7, 1893, began divorce proceedings on grounds of abandonment and failure to provide for more than a year.  She also asks to be restored to her maiden name, Jennie E. Hill.
  Sunday -- In common please court yesterday, Alexander Calhoun began divorce proceedings against Mary B. Calhoun.
