The John & Barbara Neff Home

Below you will find two photos taken in 1997 of the home of John & Barbara (Kling) Neff. It is on Friday Lane in Springfield Twp, right on the border of Madison Twp. In 1857 they purchased this house and 75 acres for $1600. They lived here until they died, he in 1873, she in 1893 and they raised their nine children here: Daniel, Mary, Barbara, Eliza, John Jr, Keziah, Nancy, Hattie and Lydia. I went to the house in 1997, it is
huge and beautiful and very well kept up. The current owner let me go through the house and showed me how things had been originally and some of the changes that had been made. That was so exciting to go through the house my ggg-grandparents lived in over a hundred and forty years ago. Most of the 75 acres has now been sold off for residential development
