JACOB N. ATHERTON RETIRES

Jacob N. Atherton retired from the office of county commissioner, Monday morning, and his successor, George Gribbling, presented his bond and was sworn in as member of the board.

Mr. Atherton, the retiring member of the board, was elected to fill the unexpired term of Charles Gibbons.  Upon Mr. Gibbons' death, Calvin Martin was temporarily appointed to fill the office.  Mr. Gibbons took his seat the first Monday in January, 1894.  Mr. Martin was appointed May 15, 1894, and served until Nov. 10 of the same year when Mr. Atherton took his position on the board.
