Thursday.  Henry L. Martin and Miss Minnie M. Jackson, both of this city, were married at the English Lutheran parsonage last evening by Rev. Dr. Wiles.

19 August 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 13

Thursday.  At the First English Lutheran parsonage this morning, Dr. H.L. Wiles married Harmon Sowash and Lillie Sampsell, both of Lucas.

26 August 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 14

Wednesday.  Married, August 22nd., at the parsonage by Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles, Robert M. Stewart and Miss Lola M. Nunmaker, both of this city.

Wednesday.  The marriage of John Cahall and Miss Lillie McCahill, to be consummated sometime during the month of September, will shortly be announced at the Catholic Church.

02 September 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 15

Invitations are out announcing the marriage of James Lawrence Lauck and Miss Grace Reed, at the Congregational Church, in this city, at 7 o'clock, Tuesday evening, Sept. 12th.  The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace L. Reed, of Park Avenue West, and is one of the highly esteemed young ladies of the city.  The groom is a son of Frank Lauck, one of the prominent business men of Bucyrus.  He is manager of the Smith, Pledon & Co's iron and steel offices at Houston, Texas, where Mr. & Mrs. James L. Lauck will be at home to their friends after Nov. 1st.

Friday.  The event of the week at Plymouth was the marriage of Earl E. Emery and Miss Kittie Morton.  The ceremony was performed Wednesday evening by Rev. W.M. Ferguson at the residence of the bride's grandfather, C.H. Whittier.

09 September 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 16

Tuesday.  Married, Sept. 4th., at the parsonage by Rev. H.L. Wiles, D.D., John F. Pifer and Miss Bertha A. Krabill, both of this city.

Thursday.  Married at the First English Lutheran parsonage last night, W.W. Eyerly and Mary L. Kistler.

Thursday.  Cards are out announcing the marriage of Miss Harriet Emiline Smith, of this city, and Mr. Hugh Bailey Thomas, of Mansfield, Thursday evening, September 14th. -- as re-printed from the Galion Inquirer.

Lenora May Keiser, daughter of B.F. Keiser and wife, of this city, will be married to Lewis Stanley Whiting, of Ashland, at the residence of the bride's parents on West Fourth Street, on Thursday, September 14th., at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.  

Monday.  The first announcement of the marriage of John Cahall and Miss Lillian McCahill was made during mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church yesterday morning.

16 September 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 17

Bellville.  On Sunday evening, Adam Foss, of Wooster, and Mrs. Lou Rhodes were married at the home of the bride's mother in this place.  They took the 8:46 train for Chicago.

Frank W. Reed, of New's Clothing store, and Miss Edna E. Martin will be married at 5 o'clock this evening.  The ceremony will take place at the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. M.L. Swoveland, 5 miles east of this city.  

At seven o'clock last evening, at the Congregational Church, Miss Grace Reed and James L. Lauck were married, Rev. J.W. Hubbell, D.D., officiating.   [a more thorough article regarding this marriage can be found in the newspaper account]

Thursday.  Miss Lillian McCahill, daughter of Cornelius McCahill, of North Main Street, and John Cahall, son of John C. Cahall, of the Aultman & Taylor Company, were united in marriage by Father Magenhann, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, at 9 o'clock this morning.  The newly married couple left for Cincinnati, where they will visit for some time, after which they will make this city their home.

Sunday.  It is with pleasure that the SHIELD makes the first announcement of the marriage of Miss Adella C. Aten to Mr. A.J. Keiffer, of Nevada, O.  Miss Aten is the youngest daughter of John Aten and wife, who reside a short distance west of this city.  Miss Aten is an accomplished and handsome young lady.  The ceremony will take place at the residence of the bride's parents on Thursday, September 21st., at 12 o'clock, noon.

23 September 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 18

Tuesday.  Married, at the parsonage of the First English Lutheran church last night by the Rev. H.L. Wiles, D.D., Harry Soullion and Ruth Sexauer;  also Wm. Roadpouch and Florence Ganze, all of this city.

Wednesday.  John M. McAnaney and Mary Buffmeyer, both of Wooster, were married last evening by Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles at the latter's residence in this city.  Also today noon Frank W. Hunter, of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Miss Carrie Ross, daughter of James Ross, of Lucas, were married at the same place by the same minister.

30 September 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 19

Friday.  Emil Bolly, of Loudonville, and Miss Artie Trease, of this city, were married last evening by Rev. Dr. Wiles at his residence on Park Avenue West.

The marriage at John Aten's on the 21st. instant was enjoyed by a large gathering of the relatives and friends.  The youngest and last daughter, Clara Adella, was married to Allen J. Kieffer.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. Joseph E. Andrews, of the Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. Lorenzo Waugh, of California, an aged Methodist preacher and uncle of the bride.

07 October 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 20

Washington.  Cards are out announcing the marriage of Newell E. Smith and Miss Maggie Mentzer.  The happy event is to take place Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the residence of the bride's parents, George Mentzer and wife.  After the ceremony the couple will leave for Chicago and the World's Fair.

Wednesday.  A quiet little wedding took place last evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Walters, on South Main Street.  Their only daughter, Miss Emma, was united in marriage to W.E. Jacobs, the popular young photographer, by Rev. J.W. Hubbell, in the presence of only immediate friends.  

Friday.  The many friends of Miss Alsie Simpson and Perkins G. Hale will be much surprised to learn of their marriage at Crestline Wednesday night.  

Mr. Louis Freundlich leaves this evening for Chicago.  On Monday evening he will go on to Jacksonville, Ill., where he will be married on Wednesday evening of this week at 6:30 o'clock.  The bride-to-be is Miss Retta Eppinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Eppinger, of Jacksonville, and is an accomplished and excellent young lady.

14 October 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 21

Tuesday.  Invitations are out announcing the marriage of Miss Della Beam and Mr. Charles Heffelfinger, of Crestline, at the home of the bride's parents in Sandusky Township, this county, on Thursday evening at 6:30 o'clock. Miss Beam is the daughter of Daniel Beam and wife, of Sandusky Township, and is an educated and accomplished young lady.  Mr. Heffelfinger is a prominent young business man at Crestline. 

Thursday.  John Casey and Miss Mary McMahon were married at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 8 o'clock this morning by Rev. Father Magenhann.  Mr. & Mrs. Casey will reside on Lilly Street, Johns Addition.

T.B. Martin, the pension attorney, was last night at 9 o'clock united in marriage at the residence of Rev. G.M. Kemp, on Western Avenue, to Mrs. Rachel Ralston.  Mrs. Ralston is the relict of Prof. Ralston, who was a number of years ago connected with the Mansfield Normal School on South Diamond Street.  She has for the past year and a half made her home in Washington, D.C., where she has a host of friends, who, as well as the many friends of Mr. Martin, will be surprised to learn of the nuptials.

Friday.  Rev. H.L. Wiles, D.D., of the First English Lutheran Church, united in marriage on Wednesday evening, Mr. L.R. McIntire and Miss Ethel E. Worth.  Thursday evening Mr. W.S. Applegate, of Lucas, and Miss Lucena Pervine, of Perrysville, were also joined in marriage by Dr. Wiles.

Monday.  Will Berno, of the Boston Store, and Miss Constance Walters, daughter of Fred. Walters and wife, of Spring Mill Street, will be married in St. Peter's Catholic Church tomorrow morning.

21 October 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 22

The wedding of Henry S. Nelson and Clara D. Martin was solemnized at 6 o'clock last evening at the residence of the bride's parents, Calvin E. Martin and wife, in Weller Township.  About fifty friends and relatives witnessed the marriage ceremony.

Abbie Harris left her home and family, at the corner of East Fourth and Wayne Streets, on Saturday, September 24th.  She boarded a B.&O. train going south at 8:20 a.m., and since then nothing had been heard from her until a few days ago.  Miss Harris had for a number of years been employed by the Mansfield Shirt Company, where she was a faithful employee and earned good wages.  About a year ago she made a clipping from the Cincinnati Enquirer of the advertisement of one George Hilliard, who wished a lady correspondent whose object was matrimony.  Miss Harris answered the ad. and after a lively correspondence and an exchange of photographs an offer of marriage was made and accepted, Miss Harris resigned her position and after laying in a supply of new clothing she bought a ticket to Junction City, where it was arranged she was to meet her lover, whom she had never seen.  Hilliard was formerly a coal miner but is now employed as a brakeman on the B.&O. railroad.  A brother of Miss Harris informed the SHIELD that the couple met, were pleased with each other and were married.  They are living in Junction City, and thus ends the little romance.

One of the most delightful social events of the season occurred on Thursday, October 19, 1893, at the pleasant home of Wm. Robinson and wife, near Pavonia.  The occasion was the marriage of their daughter, Etta, to Walter Y. McGuire, of Ashland, in the presence of about sixty guests.

Wednesday.  Joseph M. Pollock and Miss Verda I. Secrist, both of Washington Township, were married last evening by Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles, at the latter's residence in this city.

Thursday.  J.E. McIntire and Miss Della Niman, both of this city, were married last evening at the First English Lutheran parsonage by Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles.

Thursday.  The home of Mr. & Mrs. Levi Ritter, about a mile east of Lexington, was the scene of a pleasant little wedding Wednesday evening, October 25.  Their only daughter, Miss Ida M., was married to E.L. Garber, of Bellville.  Both are widely known and honored and their many friends wish them much happiness in life.

It was a pretty wedding that occurred at the Grace Episcopal church last evening.  Amid sweet music and a profusion of fragrant flowers a marriage knot was tied and Miss Laura V. Gaston, the beautiful and accomplished daughter of W.L. Gaston, of 100 Marion Avenue, and Fred A. Dew were joined n the bonds of everlasting love.  The church was handsomely trimmed with white and green, decorated with plants and flowers.  

A.B. Eyerly, second son of Samuel Eyerly, and Miss Rosa Chapman, daughter of Wm. B. Chapman, were married last evening at the residence of the bride's parents on Marion Avenue, Rev. Dr. Wiles officiating.  Between 30 and 40 invited guests were present.  Mr. Eyerly is the Spring Mills grocer and he and his bride will go to housekeeping at once on that street.

Friday.  James H. Roe, of Ontario, and Miss Della Blackston, of this city, were married by Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles, Wednesday evening, at the residence of Mr. Etzwiler on West Fourth Street.

Friday.  Elmer E. Ralston, of Ontario, and Miss Eunice P. Hawk, of near Shelby, were married by Rev. H.L. Wiles at 6 o'clock last evening at the Lutheran parsonage on Park Avenue West.

Friday.  W.Y. McGuire, of Ashland, and Miss Etta Roberts were united in marriage at the residence of the bride's parents at Pavonia yesterday afternoon.  The newly married couple left last night for Chicago and a visit at the World's Fair.

Saturday.  Married, at the M.E. parsonage, Oct. 20th., by the Rev. Duston Kemble, Louis Matthes and Miss Mattie Fidler, both of this city.

Wednesday.  O.B. Statler and Miss Florence J.A. Darling, daughter of Robert Darling, of Worthington Township, were married this afternoon by Dr. Wiles at the parsonage of the First English Lutheran church

11 November 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 25

Tuesday.  Invitations are out announcing the marriage of Miss Edna Cleland, of Shiloh, and Ira S. Marlow, of Alta.  The marriage will take place at the residence of the bride's mother, on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at noon.

25 November 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 27

Bellville.  A quiet wedding took place at the home of J.V. Oberlin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1893.  Their daughter, Fannie, was married to Jacob Snyder, of Johnsville, Rev. Barnett officiating.

Thursday.  Married, November 22d., at St. Luke's study, by Rev. George H. Reen, Lorenzo D. Wallace, from east of the city, and Miss Fannie Curtis, of East Fourth Street.

Thursday.  Married, November 23, at the residence of and by Justice Samuel Webber, 139 Park Avenue East, John A. Pfeifer and Mrs. Charlotte E. Clayville.  Mr. and Mrs. Pfeifer will reside in Washington Township.

Friday.  Married, at the home of the bride, November 16th., by Rev. R.H. Edmonds, C.B. Ingersol and Mrs. Violet Green.

Saturday.  Married, November 16th., at the parsonage by Rev. H.L. Wiles, D.F. Weddle and Flora M. Miller, both of Perrysville.

02 December 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 28

Mt. Zion.  Frank Mowers, of this place, and Miss Effie Oswalt, of near Perrysville, were united in marriage by Rev. S.P. Kieffer at the Mt. Zion parsonage on last Thursday evening.

Saturday.  Cards are out announcing the marriage of Edward Pollock, of the United States Navy, and Miss Beatrice L. Hale, youngest daughter of 'Squire Hale, deceased, on Dec. 5th., at the bride's home 3 miles east of the city.

Monday.  Married, Nov. 24, at the parsonage, by Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles, Otto J. Chew and Emma Hall, from near Lucas.

09 December 1893, Vol. LXXVI, No. 29

Married, last evening, at the home of the bride, three and one-half miles east of the city, by the Rev. D.J. Meese, Edwin T. Pollock and Miss Beatrice L. Hale.

Thursday.  Married, December 7, at the office of and by Justice Endly, Alvah Wintringham and Sarah A. Weaver.

Thursday.  Married, last evening, at the residence of the bride's parents, south of the city, by Rev. H.L. Wiles, D.D., H.L. Algire and Miss Jennie R. McCarty.  About sixty guests were present and partook of a bountiful wedding supper.

Friday.  John Cairns and Miss Alma I. Carter, both of this city, were married at the First English Lutheran parsonage Wednesday evening, by Rev. H.L. Wiles.

Friday.  Married, November 29th., at the parsonage by Rev. H.L. Wiles, D.D., John Baer and Olive Swigart.  The groom is a member of the firm of Roth & Baer, of this city, and the bride is a teacher in the Lucas Public Schools.

Saturday.  Forest Wharton, of Olivesburg, and Miss Ethelyn Meek, of Rome, were married on the 30th. ult., by Rev. G.M. Kemp, at his residence, 21 Rowland Street, this city.

Lexington.  Ellsworth Miller seems to have tired of his way of living and, having resolved to become a benedict, was married on last Thursday to Miss Gearheart, of near Bellville.

Thursday.  Married, December 13th., at the parsonage, by Rev. H.L. Wiles, D.D., H.B. Farber and Miss Tienie Flaharty, both of Bellville.

Married, at the Mt. Zion Lutheran parsonage, December 6th., 1893, Vernon U. Keefer and Miss Nora C. Hart, both of Mifflin, Rev. S.P. Kiefer officiating.  

Married, at the Mt. Zion Lutheran parsonage, December 7th., 1893, by Rev. S.P. Kiefer, Addison Gray, of Ashland, and Miss Julia Troxell, of Mifflin.

Tuesday.  Mr. Charles Rhoads and Miss Jennie A. Pluck, both of this city, were married last Saturday evening by Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles at the First English Lutheran parsonage.

Tuesday.  Married, at the residence of the bride's mother, near Mifflin, on Thursday evening, Dec. 14, 1893, by Rev. S.P. Kiefer, Wm. Baker, of near Hayesville, and Miss Ella Carroll, of Mifflin, O.

Tuesday.  Dr. Gilbert W. DeCamp, Jr., of Chicago, eldest son of Dr. G.W. DeCamp, of this city, was united in marriage at noon today to Miss Fannie D. Rice.  The ceremony was performed in the presence of a number of friends at the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. Mary Rice, No. 54 West Second Street.  After a short wedding journey the couple will take up their residence in Chicago, where the groom enjoys a lucrative practice.  

Thursday.  Geo. W. Knapp and Miss Della E. Sipe, both of Ontario, and A.J. Long and Miss Virginia Mellon, both of this city, were married by Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles at his residence this afternoon.

Friday.  Married at the Methodist parsonage by Rev. Duston Kemble, on Thursday evening, December 14, 1893, Joseph Frey and Mrs. Amanda C. Dimmick.

Wednesday evening, December 20th., at the residence of B.F. Swoveland and wife, by Rev. S.P. Kiefer, Gaylord Vantilbourg, of Mansfield and Miss Ora May Swoveland, of Mifflin.

Thursday evening, December 21st., 1893, at the residence of Jackson Royer and wife, E. (Eugene) Foster Blust and Miss Estella M. Eby, all of Mt. Zion, Rev. S.P. Kiefer officiating.

At the Mt. Zion parsonage by Rev. S.P. Kiefer, Sabbath evening, Dec. 24th., 1893, ----- J. Cook and Miss Ella J. Kaufman, of near Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.

Thursday.  Married, last evening at the First English Lutheran Church parsonage, by the Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles, Peter Doerman and Miss Nettie Hess, both of this city.

Thursday.  A charming little home wedding was that last evening when Charles H. Stevens and Florence Mae Hurst were united in holy wedlock at the home of the bride.  The ceremony was performed in the presence of only the relatives and most intimate friends of the contracting parties by Rev. J.W. Hubbell, D.D.  From out of the city were present at the wedding Will T. Hurst and wife, of Dalton, and Clyde Race, of Cleveland.  Mr. and Mrs. Stevens will, after January 15th., be at home to their friends at No. 177 West First Street.
