05 January 1895, Vol. LXXVII, No. 34

Wednesday.  Edward R. Meyer, a young lawyer of Cincinnati, and Miss Anna L. Super, of this city, were married yesterday by Rev. Geo. H. Reen, at the residence of the latter on Park Ave. West.  Mr. Meyer is a son of Moses Meyer, a prominent clothing merchant of Zanesville.  Mr. and Mrs. Meyer will leave in two weeks for their future home in Cincinnati.

Thursday.  William J. Denzer, the barber, and Miss Myrtie Van Valkenburg, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J.W. Van Valkenburg, were married by the Rev. Duston Kemble, Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 6 p.m. at the bride's home, 63 Vennum Avenue.  In the presence of about thirty-five guests.  Among those present from abroad were Mrs. E. Cook and Mr. and Mrs. A.T. Van Valkenburg, of Medina, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heffner, of Ashland. The bridal couple received many handsome and useful presents.  At 8 o'clock Mr. and Mrs. Denzer departed for Detroit, Kalamazoo and Howell, Mich.  They will be "at home" after Jan. 15 at 63 Vennum Avenue.

Jan. 2nd., at the parsonage by Dr. H.L. Wiles, George G. Griebling and Anna Louise Ludwig.

Jan. 1, by the Rev. T.B. Hodkinson, P.F. Smith and Miss Sadie Frank.

Saturday.  Married, at the Mayflower parsonage, Dec. 27th., by the Rev. R.H. Edmonds, John S. Weedman and Miss Kittie Schissler.  On the same day the same minister married F.M. Heichel and Miss Rachel L. Coleman.

Lucas.  Miss Anna Rummel, of this place, and Jacob Long, of Butler, were married Thursday evening.

Lucas.  Gil Swaney has come to the conclusion that he is tired of single blessedness and has taken as a help-mate Miss Amanda Fox.  Congratulations Gil.

Thursday.  Charles A. Brown, on of the sturdy young men of Washington Twp., and Miss Sylvia I. Aungst, of Worthington Township, were married at Butler today by the Rev. Mr. Newlon.  They have many friends who will extend sincere congratulations.

Lucas.  Vernie Hoopes and Josie Smart, of this place, were married at the Lutheran parsonage, Tuesday evening, by Rev. Farrow.

02 February 1895, Vol. LXXVII, No. 38

A pretty home wedding occurred at 10 o'clock this morning at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. James Carrothers, corner of Second and Mulberry.  The bride was Mansfield's accomplished soprano, Miss Minnie Lucile Carrothers, who for four years has been instructor of the vocal department of Wooster University.  The groom was Charles A. MacDonald, of Wooster, where Mr. MacDonald, is engaged in the coal business, besides being identified with other business interests.  <A more lengthy version of this article can be found in the source newspaper>

Tuesday.  John Mann, of Marion Avenue, and Miss Bertha Liston, a stenographer, daughter of Samuel Liston, of Park Avenue West, were married at their future home, 288 Marion Avenue, last night by Dr. H.L. Wiles.

A small but select coterie of friends of the contracting parties witnessed the marriage of Rollin H. Cockley, son of Capt. W.W. Cockley, a young man of 23 years of age, and Miss Jessie J. Smurr, daughter of Mrs. J.R. Smurr, an accomplished lady and society favorite, some 21 years of age.   <A more lengthy version of this article can be found in the source newspaper>

Wednesday.  Charles W. Ecker, of Rowsburg, and Miss Cora Balliett, were married yesterday by the Rev. S.P. Kiefer, at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Kate Balliett, east of Lucas.  After visiting friends at Crestline, Columbus and Cincinnati, Mr. and Mrs. Ecker will locate in their future home at Rowsburg.

Friday.  Frank A. Miller and Miss Jessie M. Fickes, daughter of John W. Fickes, of Shenandoah, were married on the 31st., at the bride's father's, Rev. G.M. Kemp officiating.

Friday.  Frank L. Schwein, of Wayne Street, and Miss Lena Poth, daughter of Adam Poth, were married at the residence of the bride's father, north of this city, last night.  A number of guests were present from a distance to witness the ceremony, which was followed by an elegant supper.

Tuesday.  Cards are out announcing the marriage of Miss Mary G. Bloom, formerly of Mansfield, and a Mr. Ferrell, of Rushville, Ind., at the bride's home in Oberlin [Lorain Co., Ohio], February 19.

Thursday.  Cards are out announcing the marriage of Burt C. Parker and Miss Nellie Zay, at the home of the bride's father, William Zay, 408 South Main Street, Feb. 27.

The marriage of Burt C. Parker, son of Mr. & Mrs. S.C. Parker, and Miss Nellie Zay, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William Zay, occurred at 6 o'clock last evening at the home of the bride's parents, 408 South Main Street.  The nuptials were solemnized by the Rev. Mifflin.  Married at the home of the bride's father, John Baker, last Thursday evening, Miss Millie Baker and S.R. Koch, by the Rev. D.W. Sprinkle.

Friday.  Edward Yingling, of this city, and Miss Bessie Aungst, daughter of Washington Aungst, of Bellville, were married at the Lutheran parsonage by Dr. H.L. Wiles last night.  Mr. Yingling is the eldest son of Jerry Yingling, of Park Avenue East, and is well known in this city.  He was an employee of F.M. Ettinger at the Star bakery for a number of years, and for the past six months has been a clerk for H.L. Soyez on East Second Street.  The couple will reside with Mr. Yingling's father for a short time, and will then reside on East Second Street.

Lexington.  Sherman Myers was married last Wednesday to Miss Nettie Donnan, of Monroe Township.  The boys of this neighborhood (and some of them not so very young boys) gave him a serenade on the following evening with horns, bells and other usual accompaniments, which eventually brought out the newly married couple, also the cigars. 

Lexington.  The wedding of Miss Lucy Dennis to Frank Hershinger, which occurred at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. & Mrs. J. Dennis, on March 13, was a most pleasant affair.  Miss Dennis had been a teacher in our township schools for several years and had won for herself many warm friends.  About 75 of these friends were gathered to witness the wedding ceremony, which was most beautifully performed by Rev. Kaley, with John Wirth acting as groomsman and Miss Mary Clever as bridesmaid, the bridal party taking their places directly under a beautiful arch of flowers.

Mt. Zion.  William Koons, of Mifflin, and Miss Dora Keever were united in marriage at the parsonage last Sabbath evening, March 10, by Rev. S.P. Kiefer.

Thursday.  Benjamin Pressler, of Perrysville, was in the city this morning.  His face was wreathed in smiles and he blushingly confided to a reporter that he was going to Bellville to be married.  The happy lady is Mrs. Mary Hathaway, who resides at that place.

Joseph M. Hammett, oldest son of Mr. & Mrs. William B. Hammett, was united in marriage to Almira L. Orock, youngest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Peter Orock, on Wednesday evening, March 13, at the residence of the bride's parents on Newman Street, the Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles officiating.

Mt. Zion.  Tuesday evening, March 26, was the occasion of the marriage of Miss May, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. C.C. Arehart, of near Lucas.  N.C. Irvin, of Perrysville, was the bridegroom.  A large number of guests were present.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. S.P. Kiefer.  The happy couple were the recipients of a large number of presents.

Friday.  Benjamin Pressler, of Perrysville, and Mrs. Mary Hathaway, of Bellville, were married at her home at 4 o'clock this afternoon.  The ceremonies concluded with a sumptuous feast and dancing.

06 April 1895, Vol. LXXVII, No. 47

Thursday.  Florin F. McCullough, who resides near this city (Mansfield), and Miss Jennie Urban, were married at the residence of the bride's parents, three miles east of Pavonia, by Dr. H.L. Wiles, at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon.  About sixty guests were in attendance, twenty-eight of whom were friends of the groom from this city. 

Lucas.  Miss Grace Shafer, of this place, was married to Peter Bosler, of Crestline, Wednesday evening.

Thursday.  Charles Remy and Miss Minnie B. Ottinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel F. Ottinger, will be married next Wednesday.  They will reside on South Main Street, where Mr. Remy has built and is now furnishing a new home for himself and bride.

27 April 1895, Vol. LXXVII, No. 50

Thursday.  Charles F. Remy and Miss Minnie B. Ottinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel F. Ottinger, were married at the parsonage by the Rev. Dr. D.J. Meese last evening, and they at once began house-keeping in their home on Augustine Avenue, which had been previously furnished and prepared.  Mr. and Mrs. Remy have many friends to wish them a happy future.
