David Mecklem Takes Bride

In Christmas Day Ceremony

On Christmas Day, David McClellan Mecklem took as his bride, Miss Elizabeth Jane Tinsler  The candlelight service was performed before the altar of Grace Episcolpal church  The Rev. Samuel U. J. Peard performed the ceremony at 11:30 a. m.  The church was decorated with poinsettias and pine boughs.

The bride is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Marion Elmer Tinsler, 747 North Main St., Ada.  Mr. Mecklem, who resides on Kline Rd., is the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Perry Mecklem.

Stanley Salter presented a program of nuptial music before the ceremony.  He was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Dean Eckert.

Escorted to the altar and given in marriage by her brother, Lee, Miss Tinsler wore a white slipper satin gown trimmed in nylon brocade.  She carried out the tradition of something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.  The bride wore a cross which had belonged to the bridegroom’s mother.  Her bouquet was a white orchid surrounded by white sweet peas, holly and mistletoe.

Miss Phyllis Kerns was maid of honor and the bridesmaid was the bride’s sister, Miss Shirley Tinsler, Ada.  Miss Kerns wore an orchid gown with a matching hat and carried a colonial bouquet of white carnations trimmed with berries and holly  Miss Tinsler, gowned in lime green, carried a similar bouquet of red roses.

The bridegrooms’ brother, John Leslie Mecklem, was best man, James E. Welshonse and Donald Garber were the ushers.

The couple received about 100 guests at the Colony Catering club in the afternoon.  Christmas decorations were used.  The bride’s mother was attired in a dark blue dress with matching accessories.  At her shoulder was a corsage of red rosebuds.

For a wedding trip to Lakeworth, Fla., the new Mrs. Mecklem wore a beige suit with brown and white accessories and the orchid from her bridal bouquet.  She is a graduate of Ada high school and Ohio Northern university.  At present she is teaching at Oakwood school, Lorain.

Mr. Mecklem is a graduate of Air Force photography school and a student at the Institute of Photography.  He is a photographer in the Air Force Reserve.

Out-of-town guests came to the wedding from Ada, Harrod, Bucyrus and Wooster.  [The Mansfield News:  Sunday, January 11, 1953]
