LIBERTY AND EQUALITY!

The householders of sub-district No. 4, Monroe Township, met at Hopewell School house on the evening of January 17th. to compare views in regard to the proposition reported by a joint committee of the General Assembly to tax our liberty, and apply an unequal rule in taxing our property.  Liberty and equality were handsomely sustained by No. 4 as will be seen by the subjoined list of names.

We, the undersigned, are opposed to so amending the constitution of Ohio as to strike out and substitute something else for the clause, "Laws shall be passed taxing by uniform rule, all money, credits, investments in bonds, stocks, joint-stock, companies or otherwise.  And also all real and personal property according to its true value in money.
