Jonas Blocker, an old citizen of Jackson Township, died last week.

At the annual election of Shelby Engine Company, No. 1, held April 7, 1875, the following officers were elected: Foreman, J.B. Ward; 1st. Assistant, W.B. Hall, 2d. Assistant, W.B. Snyder; Secretary, H.H. Shriner; Treasurer, A. Bushey.

Messrs. Hiram Marvin and Charles Wilson of Sharon; S.R. Parker and John Griffith of Plymouth, and James C. Wood, of Cass, were on the Grand Jury from this part of the County. J.J. Smiley of Shelby, S.F. Ickes of Sharon, and Joseph Ruckman of Plymouth, are on the Petit Jury.

Mrs. Benj. Strall shot a neighbor's wife, a Mrs. Shepherd we learn, while letting out the former's husband early on Wednesday morning of last week. The injured woman ran into the street screaming, where she was again terribly beaten by the infuriated Mrs. Strall. She (Mrs. Strall), was afterwards arrested, but no body appeared against her, was discharged. That's what Crestline things about it. Charles Faymel committed suicide the same morning, and Mrs. John McCarthy fell dead the same evening. Truly an exciting day for Crestline!

MARRIED, April 6th., Mr. Thomas Moore and Miss Martha Malone, both of near Shelby.

DIED, Jonas Blocker was born in the State of Maryland, September 20th., 1793. Died on the 8th. inst., aged 81 years, 6 months and 19 days. In the year 1813, he married Sophia Ohler and in 1815 moved to Trumble Co., where he resided 16 years. In 1831 he came to Richland Co., and settled on the farm which he owned up to the time of his death. He connected with the Reformed Church under the ministration of Rev. S.B. Leiter. His last illness was lingering and at times he endured great suffering. On the 10th. inst., his mortal remains received Christian burial at the London Church, attended by many neighbors and friends. -- N.H.L.

DIED, Mrs. Regina Schneck, was born in the Kingdom of Wittenberg, Germany, September 7th., 1791, died on 4th. inst., aged 83 years, 6 months and 27 days. For a while she resided in York Co., Pa. From thence she came to this State about 21 years ago. Was years ago a member of the U.B. Church. She was also buried at the Sheriff Church. -- N.H.L.

A little boy, five years old, a son of Christ Snyder, of Mansfield, got a bean in his throat on Wednesday, and died on Thursday last.

Christian Mull committed suicide near Lexington, this county -- on Monday afternoon of last week, by hanging himself.

George B. Harmon has moved with his family to Santa Barbara, California. He has greatly lost his health. We trust he may be fully restored, and in business meet with success.

Misses Emma Reynolds and Matilda Rogers of Shelby, received teacher's certificates for one year; Laura M. Bailey and Rhinehart Crall of Sharon, for six months, at the recent examination held in Mansfield.

Mrs. Zuliana Mattoon, mother of H.B. Mattoon, and an esteemed mother in Israel, died last Monday afternoon, rather unexpectedly, in the seventy-fifth year of her age. The funeral services on Wednesday, the 14th. inst., were largely attended, and conducted by the different ministers of the place. An obituary notice will be published next week.

DIED, Mrs. Anna Polin, was born in Nusha, Basilland, Switzerland, October 15th., 1804. Died at Shelby, April 8th., 1875, aged 70 years, 5 months and 23 days. The deceased was married to her first husband, J.J. Sotzen, in Switzerland, who died quite a number of years ago. Was married to Mr. Polin about thirteen years ago, who died about a year and a half ago. She was the mother of five sons, four of whom are living -- two in New York, one in Cincinnati, the other J.J. Sotzen, in this place, her late home. She emigrated to this County in 1852. In early life she became a member of the Reformed Church of Switzerland. She died in the faith, being conscious to the last -- giving directions for her funeral and religious services. Services were held at the Reformed Church. -- N.H.L.

DIED, Christina Hull, wife of John Hull, was born in Bradford, Lancaster Co., Pa., March 17th., 1802. Died near Shelby, Ohio, April 3d., aged 73 years and 16 days. Her husband preceded her to eternity on the 15th. of September, 1865. In early life she united with the Lutheran Church. She died suddenly in a ripe old age, ready to be harvested home. Many friends and neighbors followed her to the grave. Funeral services were held at the Sheriff Church. -- N.H.L.
