We learn that a Mrs. Dunlap, a daughter of Mrs. David Livensperger, died very suddenly on Friday last. Dr. Huss left last week for Germany, where he expects to further continue his studies at Jena, in several branches of his profession; but will return in due time. The Doctor has become a universal favorite among our people, and his future prospects for success are indeed bright. It is reported that Mr. W.A. Flanders (the Bee man) formerly of this place, fell dead at Plymouth, Ind. He has a young daughter residing in Shelby who is very ill. Leonard Swigart of Monroe Twp., is a candidate for Member of the Board of Public Works, on the Democratic State ticket. He has all the qualifications requisite for that position, and has our very best wishes for success. MARRIED, At the residence of the bride's father, Mr. Henry Wentz, near London, by Rev. D.I. Foust on April 22d., 1875, Mr. Samuel Miller and Miss Sarah A. Wentz. MARRIED, At the Lutheran Parsonage, Shelby, Ohio, May 4th., by Rev. D.I. Foust, Mr. Wm. N. Rex and Mrs. Emily Devoe. DIED, Mrs. Elizabeth Dunlap, was born Oct. 1st., 1834, died near Shelby, O., May 1st., 1875, aged 40 years and 7 months. The deceased was very unexpectedly called into eternity, having been sick but a few days. She was a faithful wife, a kind mother and was much esteemed by friends and neighbors. Aged parents, brothers and sisters, a much afflicted husband and four children, survive to mourn her vacant place in the bereaved home. Funeral services, very numerously attended, were held at the Sheriff Church, conducted by the Rev. N.H. Loose. In the church yard where many of her neighbors rest, in the sleep of the grave, we consigned her mortal remains to rest in peace until the last great day. -- N.H.L. |
