Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. James Potter.  Mrs. Potter died in the south, where she had gone to regain her health, when Dora was very young.  A court battle between the two sets of grandparents began, with both Mr. & Mrs. E.J. Potter, of Mansfield, and Mr. & Mrs. Morse, of Cleveland, trying to get custody of the minor child.  Dora's father was not dead, but was a commercial traveler on the Pacific Slope and could not care for the child.
