07 May 1885 A.H. Redding appointed guardian of Nellie Redding, a minor.  Bond $2,500.
James Crow was appointed guardian of Elizabeth Winemiller, who was declared an imbecile.  Bond $900.
Wm. Eckles was appointed guardian of Carrie L. Eckles and Mamie J. Eckles, minor children of Jane Eckles, deceased.  Bond $100.
14 May 1885 Joseph P. Henry was appointed administrator of the estate of Marion Boals, deceased.  Bond $100.
Charles E. Miller was appointed guardian of John Gailey, Richard Gailey and Sarah L. Gailey, minor children of Richard Gailey, deceased.  Bond $1,500.
Mary D. Avery was appointed executrix of the will of Jane Wilson, deceased.  No bond.
John F. Murphy was appointed administrator of the estate of Henry Cline, deceased.  Bond $3,200.

14 May 1885 W.J. Sewell was appointed guardian of Ida E. Eby, minor child of Jacob K. Eby, deceased.  Bond $4,000.
21 May 1885 Application has been made to admit the will of Anna A. Stein to probate.
W.S. Conley and Oliver Conley have been appointed administrators of the estate of Samuel Conley.  No bond.
Huntington Brown was appointed administrator of the estate of Hicks Brown, deceased.  Bond $82,000.
An order was received by the Probate Judge from the Superintendent of the Reform Farm at Lancaster, granting permission for the admission of Edward Karle as an inmate of the reform school.
Louis Theis, German alien, secured his final naturalization papers and became a citizen of the United States.
The will of Christina Stromberger, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate, and Peter Ackerman was appointed executor according to the terms of the will.  Bond $3,600.
Andrew Adams was appointed administrator of the estate of Nicholas Zeigler, deceased.  Bond $18,000.
28 May 1885 Frank A. Stein was appointed executor of the estate of Anna A. Stein, deceased.  Bond $4,000. 
04 June 1885 Wm. Denman, an English alien, was granted his final naturalization papers and became a citizen of the United States.
Wallace S. Kennedy, of Springfield Township, was adjudged insane at an inquest held in the Probate office.
George Scott, English alien and a resident of Mansfield for over thirty years, received his final naturalization papers.
Bert Armstrong, an alleged insane person, was adjudged insane at an inquest held in the Probate Office, Monday.
The will of Peter Stiring was admitted to probate, and Christian Stiring was appointed executrix according to the terms of the will.  Bond $7,300.
Application was made to admit to probate the last will of Thomas Trist, deceased.
Mrs. Elizabeth Dell and her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Schroer, both alleged to be insane, were adjudged so at an inquest held in the Probate office Tuesday.
11 June 1885 Lucinda Smith and Ralph A. Smith were appointed administrators of the estate of Samuel R. Smith, deceased.  Bond $900.
James H. Atyeo was appointed administrator of the estate of Margaret Jaques, deceased.  Bond $9,800.
Sherman M. Painter was appointed guardian of Burt Armstrong, an insane person, resident of Richland County.  Bond $2,500.
Permission has been granted by C.M. Finch, Superintendent of the Asylum for the Insane at Columbus, to receive as inmates of the institution, Wallace S. Kennedy and Burt Armstrong, and they were taken to the asylum in charge of Sheriff Gates and Deputy Sheriff Gay, Wednesday night.  The last named will bring back with them two homeless, incurable insane persons who will be placed in the County Infirmary.
The will of Thomas Trist, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate and F.B. Ott was appointed administrator with the will annexed.  Bond $400.  
John Walker, alien and native of Scotland, and Jesse Brooker, alien and native of England, received their final naturalization papers.
Application was made for the appointment of Rev. S.A. George and A.W. Patterson, as administrators of the estate of Michael George, deceased.
An inquest of lunacy was held by the Probate Judge on the person of J.W. Hall.  Not ended and continued until 9 o'clock this morning.
18 June 1885 Jacob Laser, of Ganges, was adjudged insane at an inquest held by the Probate Judge Thursday.  The warrant was sworn out by H.F. Fighter and his son W.F. Laser, and he was arrested by Deputy Sheriff John F. Gay.  The witnesses examined were Dr. S.C. Lybarger, Albert Pittinger, W.L. Laser, and Mrs. Mary Laser.  Twice before this he was confined in the jail for insanity, but got better and was set at liberty.  On Wednesday night he threatened to kill his wife with an ax.  He labors under strange hallucinations, and is very jealous of his wife without the least cause.  He said that 110,000 men, including all the ministers in the community were seeking to win his wife's affections from him.  Application was made to admit him to the Asylum for the Insane at Columbus, and he, together with J.W. Hall, who was also adjudged insane, is now confined in the county jail, awaiting permission to be granted for their admission to the asylum.  Laser has a great prosperity for destroying whatever he can get his hands on, and on Wednesday pulled up all the vegetables in his garden.  He has a wife and five or six children, some of whom testify to his insanity.
James Allison was appointed administrator of the estate of Lampert L. Buzzard, deceased.  Bond $150.
H.B. Dirlam was appointed administrator of the estate of Margaret Jaques, deceased.  Bond $2,000.
Samuel A. George and A.W. Patterson were appointed administrators of the estate of Michael George, deceased.  Bond $6,000.
Geo. W. Hoffman, of Plymouth, made an assignment to W.B. Cuykindall, of the same place.
Sheriff Gates will take J.W. Hall and Jacob Laser today to the Asylum for the Insane at Columbus.
Mrs. Priscilla Smith, of Plymouth, was adjudged insane at an inquest held by the Probate Judge at that place Tuesday.
25 June 1889 The will of Amasa F. Simmons, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate, and Anna Simmons and Thomas Simmons were appointed executors according to the terms of the will.  Bond $1,600.
Sheriff Gates took J.W. Hall and Jacob Laser to the asylum for the Insane at Columbus, Wednesday, and returned Thursday having charge two incurable insane persons named Mary Heselton and Mart Curtlin, whom he lodged at the County Infirmary.
A.A. Douglass was appointed guardian of Chas. E. Gallagher, a minor heir.  Bond $5,000.
02 July 1889 Benjamin F. Kauffman, of Lexington, who has passed his three score years and ten, was adjudged insane at an inquest held by the Probate Judge at that place Monday morning.  For a year his aberration of mind has been noticed, and has been gradually growing worse.  Two weeks ago he attempted suicide by means of a case-knife.  He succeeded in nearly severing his right arm at the elbow, but desisted before inflicting further injury.  He said he made a mistake in carving himself, and ought to have tried drowning.  He imagines that his relatives are trying to poison him and requires his son to taste food before he will eat it.  At times he forgets what town he lives in, notwithstanding he has resided at Lexington for over 50 years.  The inquest was conducted in the presence of Dr. G.W. Cary, Wm. S. Berry and Wm. C. Dougherty.  Application has been made to have him admitted to the asylum.
W.A. Knight was appointed guardian of Berges A.L. Knight, a minor heir.  Bond $200.
The will of David Nesbet, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate, and Hazard P. Nesbet was appointed executor according to the terms of the will.  Bond in the sum of $500.
Application was made to admit to probate the will of Jas. Raitt, deceased;  also the will of Elijah Bosworth, deceased.
09 July 1885 Lewis Bowers was appointed administrator de bonis non with the will annexed of John McCullough, deceased.  Bond $16,200.
Harriet E. Bradley was adjudged insane at an inquest held by the Probate Judge Friday morning.
Mattie L. Dancer was appointed guardian of Lucinda Dancer, a minor heiress.  Bond $50.
The will of James Raitt, deceased, was admitted to probate and Geo. F. Carpenter and Lettitia Raitt were appointed executors according to the terms of the will.  Bond $2,400.
16 July 1885 John Reimund was appointed guardian of Wm. Heldman, a minor 15 years old.  Bond $800.
The will of Elijah Bosworth, deceased, was admitted to probate, and Stephen Crispin and John Northland were appointed executors.  Bond $400.
A writ of habeas corpus was issued on application of John W. Winget to recover the custody of his infant son, George Francis Winget, who is unlawfully restrained of his liberty by one Charles Hannan at his residence in Springfield Township.  The pretended cause of restraint is a sum of money claimed to be due the said Charles Hannan from the petitioner.  M.R. Boals is the attorney of John W. Winget.  The writ was served on Hannan Tuesday by Deputy Sheriff John F. Gay.
23 July 1885 Rev. J.B. Jud was appointed administrator of the estate of Rev. Alfred Schimmel, deceased, and Phillip Leonhardt, Jacob Schier and John Toby were appointed appraisers.  Bond $800.
Wm. Willet was appointed administrator of the estate of Wm. H. Opdyke, deceased, and Leander Pane, Ira Pane and Josiah Brinkerhoff were appointed appraisers.  Bond $2,000.
George Francis Winget, for the custody of whom a writ of habeas corpus was issued on application of John W. Winget, was brought into court and adjudged to the custody of his father.
06 August 1885 Charles Schrack, a former resident of Monroe Township, was adjudged insane at an inquest held in the probate office Saturday afternoon.  He is 66 years old and was one of the old pioneers of the city.  Application was made for his admission to the Central Asylum for the Insane at Columbus.
The will of Jacob Secrist, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate, and Elizabeth Secrist was appointed executrix according to the terms of the will.  Bond $600.
Mary L. Packer was appointed guardian of Mildred and Grace Packer, minor children and heirs-at-law of Jeremiah Packer, deceased.
Edwin Mansfield was appointed administrator of the estate of Carrie S. Mann, deceased.  Bond $500.
Michael Dell, Jr. was appointed guardian of Elizabeth A. Dell, an insane person now in the asylum for the insane at Columbus.  Bond $220.
Application was made for an inquest of lunacy to be held upon Mrs. Albert Wolf, an alleged insane person.
13 August 1885 Wm. Hook, a native of Germany, made application to become a citizen of the United States and took out his first naturalization papers.
20 August 1885 Robert Clingan was appointed administrator of the estate of Thomas Clingan, deceased.  Bond $9,000.
Martha Clingan was appointed guardian of Edwin A. Clingan, minor heir, aged 15 years, who made choice in open court.  Bond $500.
Cicero Castor, at Shelby, was adjudged insane at an inquest held by the probate judge Wednesday afternoon, and application was made for his admission to the Central Asylum for the Insane at Columbus.  He imagines himself still in the war of the rebellion.
Emeline McDaniel was appointed administratrix of the estate of Joseph McDaniel, deceased.  Bond $800.
Sarepta D. Norris was appointed administratrix of the estate of Evan D. Norris, deceased.  Bond $6,000.
Cicero Castor was taken to the asylum Friday morning by Deputy Sheriff John F. Gay.
J.C. Fenner was appointed guardian of Maggie Pettit, Myrtie Pettit and Daisy Pettit, minor heirs.  Bond $660.
Albert Kubs, an alien and native of Austria, made application to become a citizen of the United States, and received his first naturalization papers.
George Grossman, an alien and native of Germany, also received his first naturalization papers.
27 August 1885 Elizabeth Brashear was appointed administratrix of James P. McGahey, deceased.  Bond $1,100.
Wm. B. Chapman was appointed guardian of Rosa and Charles J. Chapman, minor heirs of Henrietta Chapman, deceased.  Bond $2,000.
Thomas Waghorn, an alien and native of England, made application to become a citizen of the United States, and received his first naturalization papers.
Adam Scheck, alien and native of Germany, also received his first naturalization papers.
10 Sept 1885 Application was made to admit to probate the will of Henry J. Smith, deceased.
A.B. Cronenberger was appointed guardian of Rosanna Cronenberger, a minor 15 years of age.  Bond $100.
S.A. Gass was appointed administrator of the estate of John Graham, deceased.  Bond $20,000.
17 Sept 1885 I.S. Donnell was appointed guardian of Laura Wingert, a minor, aged 15 years, child and heir-at-law of Catherine Krill, deceased.  Bond $6,000.
W.E. Cox was appointed guardian of Maria Cox.  Bond $2,000.
The will of Henry J. Smith, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate, and Benjamin Berry was appointed executor.  Bond in the sum of $5,000.
Application was made to probate the will of Michael Grabler, deceased.
Application was made to probate the will of John Lett, deceased.
R.W. Hazlett, of Independence, filed his bond in the sum of $8,000, and was appointed assignee of the insolvent firm of H.K. Kunkel & Bros., tanners.

- The will of Mary Hatfield was filed and probated, and Eliza Waring was appointed executrix.  No bond.
The effects of Jacob Mueller, a German killed on the railroad at Shiloh a week ago, were deposited with the probate judge for safe-keeping.  They consisted of a pocket-book, some small change, a spectacle case and some lead pencils.  Mueller was out on a furlough from the Soldiers' Home at Dayton.
The will of Michael Grabler, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate, and Anna Grabler was appointed executrix.  No bond.
Peter Ewald, alien and native of Germany, made application to become a citizen of the United States, and received his first naturalization papers.
Wm. C. Black was appointed administrator of the estate of Jacob Streby, deceased.  Bond $1,200.
Rhoda Sims, an insane person, was taken to the asylum by Deputy Sheriff John F. Gay.
24 Sept 1885 Henry Marriott and C.W. Marriott were appointed administrators of the estate of Ann E. Marriott, deceased.  Bond $7,000.
George Moorhouse was appointed administrator of the estate of E.W. Smith, deceased.  Bond $5,000.
Wm. F. Madden was appointed administrator, with the will annexed, of Ann Glosser, deceased.  Bond $2,400.
Aloys Becker, alien and native of Germany, received his final naturalization papers and became a citizen of the United States.
The will of Chas. W. Osbun, deceased, was filed and probated, and Ann E. Osbun was appointed executrix.  Bond $1,000.
The will of John Lett, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate.
01 October 1885 Probate Judge A.J. Mack pronounced Mrs. Emma C. Mitchell, of Shenandoah, Bloominggrove Township, insane at an inquest held in the probate office Monday morning.  The affidavit was filed by Dr. Jas. M. Fry.  The patient is 35 years old and has never had but one attack.  The existing attack has lasted two months.  She speaks incoherently, threatens to kill her best friends and burn up buildings.  On one occasion she flourished a knife on the streets.  She is not subject to epilepsy and is free from any infectious disease.  She neglects her household duties, but is temperate in her habits.  She was committed to the ail and application was made to have her admitted an inmate of the asylum for the insane at Columbus.
An inquest of lunacy was held at the probate judge's office Tuesday on Mrs. Eliza Haskins, a widow, aged 61 years, residing in Madison Township.  The affidavit was filed by Dr. J.C. Anderson, and she was adjudged insane.  The present attack is her first and has existed for seven months.  She is of a nervous temperament and is subject to strange hallucinations.  She has made several attempts to commit suicide.  She has lived in this county for 28 years and will probably end her days in the asylum at Columbus.  She is at present confined to the county jail.
Harmon Farber was appointed administrator of the estate of Peter Farber, deceased.  Bond $4,000.
Henry Poth, alien and native of Germany, of the Fourth Ward, and George Thomas, alien and native of Germany, of the Second Ward, received their final naturalization papers, and were admitted to full rights of citizens of this commonwealth.
Wealthy A. Cross was appointed administratrix of the estate of David Cross, deceased.  Bond in the sum of $300.
Application was made by G.W. Cary for an inquest of lunacy to be held on Wm. Stough, an alleged insane person of Troy Township.
The will of James Brown, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate.  Danforth Brown was appointed executor of the will.  Bond $4,000.
W.A. Lattimer was appointed guardian of John D. Fackler.  Bond $500.
The will of Martin Gates, deceased, was presented for probate.
08 October 1885 Mrs. Elisa Hoskins and Mrs. Emma C. Mitchell were taken to the Columbus Asylum for the Insane, Saturday.
Permission has been granted for the admission to the asylum of Wm. C. Stough and John W. Hare.
Permission was granted for the immediate removal of Elmer Linsey and Sherman Ozenbaugh, two incorrigible boys from the Children's Home, to the Reform School for boys at Lancaster.
Robert Mayer, alien and native of Germany, Adolph Harting, alien and native of Prussia, and Samuel Connors, alien and native of Canada, took out their final naturalization papers.
Joseph Geiss, alien and native of Germany, made application to become a citizen of the United States and received his first naturalization papers.
Michael Cunn was appointed administrator of the estate of Samuel Deihl.
Elias L. Swank was appointed administrator with the will annexed of the estate of John Lett.
Application was made to admit the will of Andrew Barnett for probate.
Jacob Dorrman, of the First Ward, a native of Germany, was granted his final naturalization papers.
An inquest of lunacy was held on Wm. C. Stough, of Lexington, Wednesday morning, and he was adjudged insane.  Application was made for his admission to the asylum at Columbus.
15 October 1885 George Miller, L. Adam Bock, Jacob Moser and August Falkner, all German aliens, made application to become citizens of the United States and received their first naturalization papers.
Andrew Hanson, alien and native of Denmark;  Wm. Stutz, alien and native of Germany;  Conrad Shafer, alien and native of Germany;  Geo. A. McCracken, alien and native of Scotland;  and James McNamara, alien and native of Ireland, received their final naturalization papers and were admitted to the full rights of citizenship.
August Herold, alien and native of Germany, and Gottfried Laubsher, alien and native of Germany, received their final naturalization papers and became full-fledged citizens of the United States.
Samuel F. Barnett was appointed executor of the will of Andrew Barnett, deceased.  Will filed and admitted to probate.  No bond.
Karl Eichacker, alien and native of Germany, made application to become a citizen of the United States and received his first naturalization papers.
Fred Duval, alien and native of Germany, received his final naturalization papers and was admitted to the rights of citizenship.
Frederick R.O. Baer, alien and native of Switzerland;  Daniel Sullivan, alien and native of Ireland;  and John Bacon, alien and native of Ireland, declared their intention of becoming citizens of the United States.
George Wagner, German alien;  David McConnell, Scotch alien;  Conrad Grosch, German alien;  Philip Schuar, German alien;  Mathew Hogan, Irish alien;  and John Beer, Swiss alien, received their naturalization papers and were admitted to the full rights of citizenship.
James H. McConnel was appointed administrator of the estate of Hugh McConnel, deceased.  Bond $2,500.
Mary E. Heiser was appointed administratrix of the estate of George Heiser, deceased.  Bond $300.
Jacob Bissman was appointed executor of the will of Michael Bissman, deceased.  
22 October 1885 Wm. C. Stough, of Lexington, was taken to the asylum at Columbus by his mother, Mrs. Martha E. Stough.
29 October 1885 Joseph S. Hedges was appointed administrator of the estate of Sarah J. Keating, deceased.  Bond $2,000.
Application was made to admit to probate the will of James M. Wilson, deceased.
W.L. Sewell filed a petition for the appointment of a guardian for Margaret McConnell, an imbecile and heir-at-law of Hugh McConnell, deceased.
Dominick O'Donnell, alien and native of Ireland, received his naturalization papers and became a citizen of the United States.
Application was made to admit to probate the will of Sarah Parsons, deceased, and Wm. R. Bricker was appointed executor.  Will filed and probated.
Application was made to probate the will of Thos. Bossler, deceased.
Wm. P. Martin was appointed guardian of Margaret McConnell, an insane person.  Bond $4,000.
05 November 1885 S. Eberle Jenner on Tuesday filed a petition in Probate Court for a writ of habeas corpus to recover possession of Frank D. Morehead, ten-year-old son of Mr. Frank D. Morehead, who is restrained of his liberty by Mrs. Clarissa Cartright, a sister of Mr. Morehead, who resides on South Main Street.  The writ was issued and served on Mrs. Cartright by Deputy Sheriff Gay.  Previous to the service of the writ Mr. Morehead had gone to the house in company with Marshal Weil and demanded the custody of the child.  He was refused, however, on the grounds that the boy was too sick to be taken away.  He then employed counsel and took legal measures to regain possession of his son.  Mrs. Cartright has had the boy for several years, and Mr. Morehead objects to the way in which he is being brought up.
The will of Thomas Bossler, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate, and Henry Bossler was appointed executor.  Bond $22,140.
The will of Martin Gates, deceased, was filed and probated.
Application was made to admit to probate the will of Hamilton Kerr, deceased.  No bond.
William Owings was appointed administrator of the estate of Abraham Kramer, deceased.  Bond $1,050.
The petition to declare Mrs. Sarah Sonnanstine an imbecile was withdrawn.
Homer P. Sewell was appointed administrator de bonis non of the estate of Stewart Kerr, deceased.  Bond $3,000.
12 November 1885 Application was made to admit to probate the will of Henry S. Graham, deceased.
Simon Bookwalter was appointed administrator of the estate of Daniel Bookwalter, deceased.  Bond $1,400.
Mary D. Graham was appointed executrix of the will of Henry S. Graham, deceased, which was filed and admitted to probate.  No bond.
Napolean Gates was appointed executor of the will of Martin Gates, Sr.  Bond $15,360.
The habeas corpus case of P.B. Morehead to recover possession of his son, Frank D. Morehead, restrained of his liberty by Mrs. Clarissa Cortright, was tried Wednesday.
Judge Mack announced his decision in the habeas corpus case of P.B. Morehead vs. Mrs. Courtright, to recover possession of the former's son, Frank D. Morehead, granting the custody of the child to the relator on the ground that he was the legal custodian and had never relinquished his legal right to the care and custody of his son.
Joseph w. Palmer was appointed administrator of the estate of Simon Hoffman, deceased.  Bond $1,600.
Peter Bernhard, alien and native of Germany, received his naturalization papers and was admitted to full rights of citizenship.
10 December 1885 George Burrows, alien and native of England, made application to become a citizen of the United States and received his first naturalization papers.
Application was made to admit to probate the will of Mrs. Ruth M. Sturges.
Joseph Doty was appointed executor of the will of John Doty, deceased.  Bond $2,000.
John A. Connolly was appointed administrator with the will annexed of the estate of Bessie Ritchie, deceased.  Bond $1,500.
The will of Elizabeth Ritchie, deceased, was filed and admitted to probate.
N.N. Leyman and W.P. Clarke declined to act as executors of the will of said decedent and recommended the appointment of John A. Connolly as administrator with the will annexed of her estate.
David Bricker was appointed administrator of the estate of Arthur Crall, deceased.  Bond $1,000.
17 December 1885 Alfred Honely, son of Moses Honely, of Washington Township, was adjudged insane last Saturday in probate court.  He now lives in the county jail awaiting the orders of the superintendent of the Insane Asylum at Columbus.  The cause of his insanity is attributed to misplaced love.  The young man was evidently a man of good parts, but notwithstanding this, he has proven no bulwark against the subtle influence of love.

24 December 1885 The will of Sarah E. Bowman was admitted to probate and bond in the sum of $3,000 was given.  Reuben Hess executor.
- Estate of Charlie O. Leech, late of Richland County, deceased, M.D. Hosten, administrator.  Bond in the sum of $2,000.
31 December 1885 Guardianship of William F. Bricker, aged 11 years, Charles Bricker, aged 8 years, and Jessie Bricker, aged 6 years.  Bond in the sum of $200.  George Bricker, guardian.
The last will of William J. Boggs was admitted to probate.
The last will of Igneatus Sex was presented for probate, was probated and J.B. Judd was appointed executor without bond.
