Society Gossip of the Day

 
Arrangements have been made for a domino dance and reception to be given by the White Cross Dancing Club at Canton armory, March 12.
 
The Elks gave one of their enjoyable ladies' social sessions at the Elk parlors on East Fourth street last night.  About Fifty couples were present and the dancing was continued until 1 o'clock a.m.  Kunz's orchestra furnished the music for the dancing.  A light lunch was served.
 
About twenty of the friends of Helen Hoffer very pleasantly surprised her with a masquerade party last evening at her home on South Diamond street.  The evening was spent in games and music and a general good time was had by all.
 
Miss Lucy A. Welty and C. E. Pulver, of Lucas, were united in marriage this afternoon at 1 o'clock at the First Lutheran parsonage by the Rev. Dr. H. L. Wiles.
 
Prof. H. H. Phelps, superintendent of the Lexington schools, and Prof. F. W. Black, superintendent of the Shiloh schools, are here today conducting with Prof. Meck the Richland county teachers' examination.

D. G. Robertson, of Toledo, is in the city today.
 
E. C. Reed, of Loudonville, was in the city last evening.
 
Vernon Redding went to Galion this morning on a business trip.
 
Fred Zellner and Roy Winters will spend Sunday at Galion and Bucyrus.
 
Mrs. W. J. Higgins, of Shelby, called on friends in the city Friday afternoon.
 
William Berno, of the Boston store, will leave tonight on a business trip to New York.
 
Bert Crawford, of Chicago, is here visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. K. King, on Sturges avenue.
 
Mrs. William Berno, of South Diamond street, is visiting friends and relatives in Detroit.
 
Miss Minnie Rhoads, who has been in Cleveland on business the past two weeks, has returned home.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rhoads went to Ashland this morning where they will spend Sunday with relatives.
 
Miss Ethel Sloane returned Friday evening from Loudonville, where she has been visiting with friends.
 
Miss Dana Seltzer returned to her home, in Shelby, this morning after having been the guest of friends in the city.
 
H. L. Bishop and Walter Brandt, of Toledo, were in the city Friday evening en route to the east on a business trip.
 
Mrs. Karns and children, with her brother, Mr. Weaver, returned home from a three weeks' visit with parents at Alliance.
 
Mrs. Ed Boyd and daughter Mary, of Hayesville, are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Winbigler, of East Second street, a few days.
 
Charles Getteman, of Bucyrus, was in the city Friday evening and attended the Elks dance.  Mr. Getteman was the guest of Will Kern.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Lowell T. Brown, of Cincinnati, are the guest of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Brown, on North Mulberry street.
 
Harry Loeb, prescription clerk at Ashbrook's drug store, will leave this evening for Cleveland, where he will spend Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Loeb.
 
Edward Slaybaugh, formerly patrolman for the Pennsylvania railroad company, but who secured a similar position with the B. & O. company a few days ago, left Friday for his new duties.  Mr. Slaybaugh will begin his work at Chicago Junction.
 
Miss Mary Foulkes, who has been the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Foulkes, on West Fifth street for several weeks, left Friday at midnight for Chicago, whence she will go to Anaconda, Mont.  Miss Foulkes will be the guest of relatives and friends at Denver and St. Lake City on her was to the west.
