T. B. JEFFREY - PURCHASED MOST OF THE MACHINERY OF THE SHELBY MOTOR CAR COMPANY - T. B. Jeffrey, of Chicago, Ill., at one time vice president of the Shelby cycle works manufactory, was in the city yesterday and was one of the heaviest buyers at the automobile works.  He is now about to engage in the manufacture of automobiles and purchased most of the machinery of the local plant which he will ship to his new factory.  Besides Mr. Jeffrey there were also a number of buyers present from Mansfield, Cleveland, Columbus and other cities of the state.  Most of the strangers were the representatives of firms which make a business of dealing in second hand machinery.  This is getting to be quite a business and now a days when a factory starts up it is possible to equip it with good second hand machinery which does the work as well as new.
Mr. Jeffrey has been engaged in many manufacturing enterprises during his life and has always lived in Chicago which city he has seen grow to such large proportions.  While vice president of the Shelby cycle company he resided in Chicago and was then interested in half a dozen other factories.  He was a guest of A. W. Gump while in Shelby being a personal friend of Mr. Gump.  He will have the machinery shipped from Shelby to his new factory.

BOARD OF HEALTH - The board of health met in the Mayor's office Wednesday evening and ordered a number of nuisances abated.  The resignation of Sanitary Policeman Hackett was accepted, and Frank Brougher was appointed to fill the vacancy.  After discussing the location of a garbage disposal ground to some length, the meeting adjourned.  September 1 is the next regular meeting night.

RUNAWAY - An exciting runaway occured on North Gamble street last Saturday.  Eugene Avery, Roy Border and Mac Close were driving Avery's horse when it became frightened and unmanageable by them.  It ran down Gamble street to Smiley avenue, and turning suddenly, upset the carriage, tossing the boys out and completely wrecking the vehicle.  None of the occupants were injured.
THE DAILY GLOBE, Shelby, Ohio, December 10, 1903.
MOTOR CAR COMPANY SALE - WAS NOT COMPLETED LAST NIGHT AND WAS CONTINUED TODAY AT THE FACTORY - The sale of the effects of the Shelby motor car company was not completed last evening although it was continued up as late as 5 o'clock.  This morning the auctioneer, C. H. Moyer, began work again and the sale continued several hours today before it was ended.  The machinery and equipment sold for all it was worth and the receipts up to last night were $5,000.  One of the buyers who has been on the ground watching the sale closely stated to a GLOBE reporter that it was selling almost for the appraised value.  The understand(ing) is that the machinery, which was purchased by T. B. Jeffery, of Chicago, will be moved to an automobile factory which he is now establishing.  The building will not be sold as it is the property of Harry Cockley.  It is a fine little factory building and no doubt will be occupied before long by some good manufacturing concern.
