MARRIED, At the residence of Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Gilbert, at Marion and Sturges Avenues, on the evening of June 16, Mr. John Walter and Miss Hattie Nay, both of Wakeman, O., the Rev. L. Waugh, of Wakeman, officiating.  The bride is Mrs. Gilbert's niece and is well known in this city.  The couple will return to Wakeman in a day or two.

MARRIED, at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Leonard E. Stevens, No. 89 West Fourth Street, at 8 p.m., June 15, Mr. Frank C. Kerr, postal clerk on the Hocking Valley U.S. mail route, and Miss Carrie Stevens, Elder G.M. Kemp, of the Disciple Church, officiating.  The bride and groom left at 9:05 for Columbus where they will take rooms at No. 127 East State Street.  The wedding was a very quiet one, attended only by members of the family.

John C. Leonard, of the U.S.N., brother of W.L. Leonard, of this city, is to be married shortly to Miss Mamie Robertson, of Kansas City.

MARRIED, At 8 o'clock p.m., July 7, at the office of Justice A.J. Endley, Mr. John H. Hammond and Miss Sarah Kern.

The news of the marriage of Mr. Dumont D. Rogers and Miss Maude Emminger created quite a little stir in social circles Friday night.  The young people are well knon in Mansfield.  The groom is the youngest son of Capt. W.A. Rogers and the bride the daughter of Mr. George Emminger.  The young people went to Toledo Friday morning, the groom for the ostensible purpose of purchasing a line of trunks for the city trade and the bride for the purpose of paying a visit to her cousin at Toledo.  Miss Emminger had the permission of her parents to make the trip, but the marriage was as much of a surprise to them as to anyone.  The first known of the affair was the receipt of two telegrams, one by Capt. Rogers and the other by Mr. Emminger.  The telegrams were alike and read as follows:  "Were married at 3 o'clock.  Will be home tomorrow."  The groom is not yet twenty years of age and the bride was seventeen last April.  The license was in all probability secured in Michigan at Detroit.  The telegrams were sent from Toledo, so the supposition is, that the couple went to Detroit direct and after marriage returned directly to Toledo.  They evidently did not waste any time in sending the messages.  It is known that Mr. Rogers bought the line of trunks.  He evidently had an eye for business and succeeded in hitting two birds with one stone.  Whether the whole trip was engineered with matrimonial intentions or not, is not known, but if it was it was certainly managed very skillfully.

Mr. Will G. Colwell, manager for the Oliver Chilled Plow Company at Rochester, N.Y., was married at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to Miss Lena Ritter, at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. John Ritter, the Rev. D.J. Meese officiating.  The young couple left at 8 o'clock for Rochester, by way of Cleveland.  Both have the best wishes of a very large circle of friends in this city.

In this city, August 8th., John C. Carrothers, of East Fourth Street, and Mrs. Abbie Gates were married by the Rev. G.W. Huddleston.  Only a short time before the wife secured a divorce at Sandusky from her husband, Theodore Gates, who is now in this city driving the mail to and from the depots.  The groom secured the license in Sandusky and and came to this city to be married.  The couple have been living quietly at the residence of the former's father, Mr. Samuel Carrothers, on East Fourth Street.  The affair was kept very quiet.  On Wednesday Mr. Samuel Carrothers knew nothing about the case and frankly admitted to it a reporter.  Near neighbors only learned the fact of the marriage Saturday.

Mifflin -- A wedding with its usual cow bell and tin horn accompaniment, occurred east of town on last Thursday, the contracting parties being Mr. Ackerson (we have not learned his other name) of Vermillion Twp., and Miss Sadie Crunkilton, of Mifflin.  Joy be with them.

MARRIED, Aug. 25, at the residence of the bride's parents, 221 Colorado Avenue, Chicago, Ill., Mr. Charles Niman and Miss Addie E. Hiestand.  Mr. Niman is the son of Mr. James A. Niman of this city, who has recently been a resident of Chicago, and Miss Hiestand is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Hiestand, formerly of this city, but for the past fifteen years residents of Chicago.

Cards are out announcing the marriage of Dr. J.B. Lewis, of Bellville, to Miss Nellie Elston, a charming young lady of that village.  The ceremony will take place at 8 p.m. Sept. 1 at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Elston.

Mr. Milton W. McFarland and Miss Abbie Cline were married at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cline, on West Bloom Street, Wednesday evening.

MARRIED, At the residence of the bride's parents, 285 North Main Street, Sept. 22, at 7:30 p.m., by the Rev. Mr. Mitton, Mr. Clarence Koons, of Crawford County and Miss Elipheretta Gearhart.

Mr. Thomas M. McBee and Miss Clara A. Conley were married by the Rev. Dr. H.L. Wiles in the Lutheran parsonage at the corner of Market and Mulberry Streets at 3 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon.  Mr. McBee is the manager of the Central Oil Company's agency at Zanesville and Mrs. McBee, the daughter of Mr. W.H. Conley, late of the firm of Conley & Nail, lumber dealers.  Only a few of the intimate friends of the contracting parties were present.

Plymouth.  Miss Carrie Portner, of this place, has gone to Colorado where she will be united in marriage to a Mr. Hart, formerly of Shelby.

MARRIED, At the residence of Mr. George R. Marshall, No. 40 Wood Street, at 6 p.m., Oct. 12, Mr. Ben Hurxthall, Jr. and Miss Myrta Marshall, the Rev. J.W. Hubbell, officiating.  The bride and groom left at 8 p.m., for a visit to Philadelphia and Washington.  They will take up their residence at No. 26 Park Avenue West on their return.

Miss Esther C. Kooken, of this city, and her brother Landon McG. Kooken, daughter and son of Henry C. Kooken, of No. 48 South Water Street, left at 1:38 Tuesday morning and arrived at Chicago at about 10 o'clock.  Miss Kooken went to Chicago to meet Mr. Jared D. Purdey, a person well known in this city as the widower of Mrs. Emily Purdey, formerly Mrs. Emily Ward.  The young lady's father received a card Monday from a Disciple minister in Chicago stating that his services had been engaged for the ceremony.  The arrangement was that Miss Kooken was to go immediately to the parsonage where the ceremony was to take place.  Dr. Purdey has written that he expects to remain in Chicago a few days after which he and his bride will leave for Fort Worth, Kansas, where he says his father owns considerable property.  He writes that his father will accompany him.  Dr. Purdey's second wife died only a few months ago.  He stayed in Mansfield long enough to make the acquaintance of Miss Kooken and to secure his dower interest in the estate of his deceased wife, formerly Mrs. Ward.  This dower interest amounted to $400 which was paid in cash by the administrator of the estate of the deceased.  Before this money was secured, Dr. Purdey was in absolute want and was compelled to borrow money to maintain himself.

MARRIED, At the Methodist parsonage in this city, Oct. 26, by the Rev. G.W. Huddleston, Mr. James Hutchinson and Miss Etta Wirick, of this city.  Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson left at 10:15 a.m. for their future home at Newark.

Pavonia.  Another of our young men has launched his boat on the sea of matrimony.  May it ever be calm and serene.  The young couple are Miss Lily Zachman and Mr. Jacob Bush.

Lexington.  A quiet wedding took place at the Presbyterian parsonage Tuesday evening, solemnized by the Rev. Fulton.  The contracting parties were Mr. Frank Ruhl and Miss Lizzie Finney, both of this vicinity.

Cards are out announcing the wedding of Mr. J. Cotner, Jr., of this city, and Miss Marietta Trowbridge, of Toledo.  The ceremony will be performed at the First Congregational Church, Toledo, Tuesday evening, Dec. 6, at 7:30 o'clock.  The cards bear the further inscription "At home Wednesdays, Jan. 4 and 11, 117 Franklin Avenue".

The Cleveland Leader of Nov. 24 contains the following notice:  "Married:-- At Dunkirk, N.Y., April 5, 1887, by Rev. T.S. Day, James Gilbert Potter and Bessie Dora Sutliff, both of this city."  The groom is well known in this city as a son of E.J. Potter the photographer.  Even Mr. Potter did not learn of the wedding until lately and the publication last week was the first learned of it by the many Cleveland friends of the young couple.

The marriage of Mr. William Ackerman, Jr., and Miss Maude Brown, is announced to take place on the evening of Dec. 24, at the residence of the lady's parents, Mr. & Mrs. J.R. Brown, on South Main Street.

Pavonia.  MARRIED - Dec. 14, by Rev. E.T. Hagerman  at his home, Mr. W.G. Hughes and Miss Esther Boals, both of this neighborhood.  The happy couple went to Missouri on a wedding trip, expecting to be gone several weeks.  We wish them much happiness.
