Mrs. Margaret Brown died in Ashland, November 11, 1880, aged 61 years.  As the devoted pilgrim with sad pleasure and reverent step treads the hills and plains of the Holy Land, though the prophets and apostles are no longer there, so we approach the shrine of the memory of those who once moved among us, but are not, for God hath taken them.  Though it speaks sadly of their departure, yet the fragrance of all that was good and beautiful in their lives lingers about their names, giving us an inspiration to holier living.

Margaret M. Brown was born near Millersburg, in Holmes County, in June, 1879, was married at the age of twenty, and came to her home near Olivesburg.  After some years she removed to a farm about two miles west of Ashland, where she lived until her removal to Ashland, three years ago last spring.

She was converted before her marriage and united with the Methodist Episcopal church.  She was the mother of ten children, who were carefully taught and trained in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  Of these, three went before her to the better world.  Of the seven who remain, all but two are converted and members of the Church.  It was the earnest desire of the devoted mother that these should fill the place left vacant by her death, and that of her youngest daughter, who went to her heavenly home a few weeks before her mother.

<< scripture omitted >>

In her last hours she did not forget the needs of the Master's cause, directing the payment of her yearly dues to the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society, of which she was a faithful and loved member;  also her subscription for church expenses, and $20 for benevolent purposes, to be expended in our home mission work;  $10 to a poor woman who was with her as nurse a short time.
