This community was startled Saturday morning by a report that one of Washington Aungst's sons had shot himself.  Closer investigation developed the fact that Homer, aged five years, had accidentally shot himself with a revolver belonging to his brother Edd, who upon returning from church the previous evening had left his revolver, a 32-calibre, in his pants hanging up in his room.  Heretofore it had been his custom to remove the cartridges but on this occasion neglected to do so.  His little brother came into the room the next morning and having found the revolver it was discharged by some means, the bullet entering his body a little to the right of the naval taking a downward course.  The small intestines were perforated in 12 places  and several arteries cut.

Dr. Stofer was called, and Dr. Reed, of Mansfield, having been summoned as counsel, they decided to sew up the perforations of the intestines as a last resort and the only hope in this case.  The operation was performed by Dr. Stofer, assisted by Dr. Reed and Hedges and Maglott, their students.  In the evening the little fellow regained consciousness;  about six o'clock death relieved his suffering.  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dornblazer at the Salem Lutheran Church on Monday at 1 o'clock.  The parents have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
